How the height difference is calculated

The calculator converts both heights to centimeters, subtracts the smaller from the larger, and converts the result back to inches. One inch equals exactly 2.54 cm.

The percentage shows the gap as a share of the taller person's height. A 15 cm gap between a 165 cm and a 180 cm person is 8.3 percent, which is why it looks more noticeable than the same 15 cm between two very tall people.

The eye level estimate assumes that eyes sit about 12 cm below the top of the head and that a chin is about 22 cm below it. Real proportions vary from person to person, so treat it as a guide.
