Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Height Comparison Tools (heightcomparisontools.com) collects, how it is used and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.

The short version

There are no accounts on this site. The heights, names and images you enter are processed in your browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers. The site uses Google Analytics and may show ads from Google, both of which use cookies as described below.

Information you enter

Names, heights and images you add to a chart are handled entirely in your browser. They are not uploaded, logged or shared with us. Charts are not saved: they exist only in the open page, or in a share link if you create one.

Share links and embeds

A share link contains the chart data in the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to the server, so the contents of your chart are not logged. Uploaded images are never included in share links.

Cookies and local storage

The site itself uses your browser's local storage only to remember your light or dark mode preference. Google Analytics and advertising partners may set cookies as explained in the next sections. You can block or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads that help keep this site free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Where the law requires it, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you are asked for consent through a consent message before cookies are used for personalized advertising. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy settings link that the consent message provides.

Analytics and hosting

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited and from which countries. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes technical data such as your approximate location, device and browser type; it does not receive the names, heights or images you enter. You can stop this collection with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies for this site. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not build profiles of visitors and we do not sell personal data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information and to object to or limit its use. Because we do not collect personal information through the tool, we usually hold nothing about you. For data processed by advertising partners, use the opt-out links above. For any other request, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

California residents: we do not sell personal information. Cookie-based advertising can be limited through the opt-out links above.

Data retention

We do not store the content you create. Technical logs kept by our hosting provider are retained according to Cloudflare's own policies, and advertising data according to Google's policies.

Children

The site is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their policies.
